Ashwin Nair
Founder & Director
Ashwin brings together deep legal expertise with a sharp commercial focus, delivering timely and cost-effective outcomes for his clients. With extensive experience in marine casualty management, litigation and transactional and regulatory matters, particularly within the maritime and trade sectors, Ashwin is a trusted advisor across complex legal and industry-specific challenges.
Prior to founding Nair Legal, Ashwin was a partner at a leading global law firm and held senior roles in both private practice and industry. His diverse background includes working in an International Group P&I Club, where he managed a wide range of P&I and defence claims.
Ashwin’s practice spans both contentious and non-contentious work, with a reputation for strategic thinking, technical precision and high-quality service. He is recognised in leading legal directories, including Chambers Asia-Pacific and Doyle’s Guide.
Ashwin regularly conducts training and seminars for clients and industry groups. He is a member of the Editorial Board of the Australia and New Zealand Maritime Law Journal. From January 2025, he has been a member of the Admiralty Rules Committee advising the Attorney-General of Australia about rules concerning Admiralty practice and procedure of Australian courts.
Tanjeetpal Singh Khaira

Tanjeet’s experience encompasses a range of commercial, shipping and Admiralty disputes.
Prior to joining Nair Legal, he trained and practised in Singapore. He has acted for shipowners, charterers, insurers, and cargo interests in complex, high-value disputes across a broad range of wet and dry shipping and transport matters in the courts and in institutional and ad hoc arbitrations.
Tanjeet is admitted to practice in WA and NSW in Australia, and in Singapore.

Freya Bhada
Paralegal
Freya is a Juris Doctor student at the University of Western Australia, having obtained her undergraduate degree with a Double Major in Psychological and Behavioural Science and Indonesian Language Studies.
Freya supports the Nair Legal team across its various areas of practice, with a particular interest in the commercial and international aspects of the practice.
